WP app for iPhone abandoning my blog drafts?
-
Trying to make use of the app, I spent over an hour on that less-than-ideal interface drafting and revising a post. I planned on finishing and posting it later. But when I opened the app up again this morning, the draft was gone. Is there any reason for me to not uninstall such an unreliable app?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi – Is the post being stored as a draft? From the post view, in the upper center toggle to ‘Draft’ and see if the post is listed there.
-
That’s what I was hoping would happen actually. But I’m afraid not – the draft folder is empty. :(

Thank you, Liz! The title was along the lines of “Writing as Sculpture – how much you charge clients for a sentence”

This post is saved as a draft.
Click on My Sites > Posts > from the right side of the screen click Latest Drafts.
Let me know if you see it there.

Yes, I tried to name this new post as close as possible to the lost draft. I guess I let my impatience get the best of me, so instead of waiting to hear if anything more could be done, I just started re-writing. Sorry that was confusing.
It seems like I just need to plan on using the WP mobile app for read-only tasks, not for writing. Which is fine, I guess. Just so I can plan on what’s going to work.

From the post screen in the app, if you click the 3 dots in the upper right corner it will bring up a new menu, click on options.
This is where you can add Categories and Tags, set a Featured Image and some other fun stuff.
Look for the Status tab and click it. Here you can change your post to a draft if you aren’t ready to publish it quite yet. Then it will be saved for later.

Thanks for looking up those steps, Liz. :)
I wonder though if you can request the developers to automatically put all started posts into Draft status? I’d much rather have the option to delete things I don’t want to keep, than to dig down through the functionality to manually save something I do want to keep. For most writers, I’d assume that their mindset would be to not start writing something they don’t want to keep.

Which version of mobile app and iOs are you running?
When I leave a started post open in the app, it is still there when I come back in to the app at a later time.

iOS 10.2
WordPress mobile app 6.7I agree with you about how things work while the app stays open on the phone. That was fine. But when I closed the app – that’s when my draft vanished.
(And yes, the doctor could say here, “If your elbow hurts when you do that, then don’t do that.” But there’s always the chance of accidentally closing the app. Or powering off the phone. Or whatever.)

Good Morning –
I’ll pass along this feedback to the developers as a feature request.
A simpler approach to save the draft would be to click the ‘X’ and then choose ‘Save Draft’ from the menu.

You’ll be able to follow the request here:
