  I have currently set up our website: http://avenuesofart.org/. We are creating a gallery of art pieces that we would like to make available for online bidding. I am volunteering for a non-profit and helping them with this project. Their tech team purchased the WPAuction plug-in, hoping to use it with our avenuesofart.org website, but because it is hosted on WordPress.com, I do not believe we are able to use it (I read that the plug-in only works with WordPress.org sites). Are there any online bidding options for a WordPress.com site available? Or do you have suggestions of how we can best proceed Thank you!

  Hi there,

  You’re correct that plugins like that can’t be used on WordPress.com, only WordPress.org sites. And although WordPress.com offers eCommerce options, there aren’t any tools for integrating an auction directly into your site here.

  One option to consider is to host the auction with a service that supports online bidding, and link to that auction from your WordPress.com site. But if you’d like to host the auction directly on your site, you may be best off moving your site to a self-hosted WordPress.org site. (We have more information about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org if you’re considering that.)
