WP Change Custom Posts Slugs

Why can’t we download plugins like this?
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-change-custom-post-slug/
I found out how restrictive WordPress has got in the last few years only when I already had the website up. If i had known, I’d have gone somewhere else. Changing the permalink structure is such a basic thing that has a big impact on a site performance. Can’t figure it out how is it possible that I cannot change the structure of the urls of the content I create. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @slowtrends,
It is not possible to change the structure of the URL of the post on WordPress.COM. It is also, not possible to upload custom plugins here. But your can request for a plugin if you thing it’s features is beneficial to the users of WordPress, by posting your idea on the Ideas forum.
As it is written here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/#plugin-requestsThe goal of WordPress.COM is to keep things simple. So that the technical stuffs are handled by WordPress and we focus on creating quality content.
If you wish to have greater control over your site, you can use WordPress.ORG-a self hosted platform/software to create blogs, websites and more, with greater customization possibilities.
Find out the differences between WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/If you wish to move your blog from WordPress.COM to WordPress.ORG, follow the instructions given here:
https://move.wordpress.com/You can ask for help while creating your site using WordPress.ORG on this support forum: https://wordpress.org/support/. Because, this forum only supports the sites hosted on WordPress.COM.
Hope this helps :)

Thanks very much. I definitely built up the website on the wrong platform then. To be honest, I don’t know much about customization and I’m far from being a developer or anything like that, but this is really really basic stuff. Will read about moving from one to another soon.
Thanks a lot,

Thanks. I guess I don’t have any option if I want to take the blog further and build a shop in it.

If you want to build a full-featured eCommerce shop then i would recommend you to go for WordPress.ORG.
As there are various number of restrictions here:
1. There is no way to add a Shopping Cart on the sites hosted at WordPress.COM
2. There is no FTP access, and therefore you cannot upload custom plugins to add eCommerce features to your site. Read more about it here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
3. There is no secure payments system here.
4. Last but not the least, there is no eCommerce theme on the WordPress theme gallery.UNLESS, you are selling your own products and services.
Read the Terms of Service: https://en.wordpress.com/tos/
It says, and i quote:The only things you can sell on WordPress.com blogs are products that you, yourself create and/or services that you personally provide.
If this is the criteria you meet then, what you can do is create a store on Selz and then create a custom menu with a link to the selz store and add that link to the navigation menu(or anywhere you desire).
Read more about selling on WordPress.com using Selz here:
https://founderu.selz.com/selling-wordpress-com-free-website-everything-need-know/NOTE: If you use selz, do not post the issues regarding selz here, as this forum is for only sites hosted on WordPress.com.

Thanks, I appreciate it. This is very helpful, I’ll read all of this as soon as possible.

Okay, i might have made some mistakes on my answers before,
CORRECTIONS:
Terms of usage of selz on WordPress.com is a little vague, as the information on Selz(https://founderu.selz.com/selling-wordpress-com-free-website-everything-need-know/) is posted 2 years ago. And it maybe outdated. So i recommend not to use selz till it’s completely clear that you can use it with your WordPress.com site.
The terms and service document: https://en.wordpress.com/tos/, also does not give any clear idea about selling.
So for selling your “own individual products/services” you can read this: http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/I apologize for the mistakes on my previous answer.
Thanks!

Finally… after some research…
A support document that answers it all:

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it. From what I have read, I understand there’s no real way of setting up an e-commerce even if it is small on a wordpress website. I’m gonna have to transfer it to wordpress.org and self host it to then start downloading plug ins that can help me turn it into a shop (even tho that’s not the main activity of the website cause I wanna keep on writting posts, pictures, etc). I’m not only gonna be selling my own handmade products so there’s no other way around it.
Thanks a lot for your help -
