WP changed format of my pictures? – Why??
-
brailleblazer, you’re all fixed up now.
ingridcc, it probably won’t happen if you switch themes. If it does, let us know.
whiskybrothersa, this should never happen again.

Yes, but it’s not one that we can target in mass, so we’ll still need to have folks reported.
The long/short of it is as described:
This was the combination of a new feature meant to help show images as wide as they can be (in proper context), especially when switching themes, and a WordPress bug we’ve had fixed in WP 3.3.
The issue is that your images still had the size-full css class, despite having been resized down via HTML attributes (whether you had typed the values or used the image editing/embedding tools in the editor).

So, it only affected folks who had sized-down their images during the bug’s brief existence, which was just a very small percentage of all 25 million blogs here, and judging by the tally we’ve been keeping and how slow the requests have become, I’d say we’ve just about got them all.
The script that we run removes the size-full class on all resized images, thus resolving the issue.

I wrote a message to the Happiness Engineers 22 hours ago about this, and only at a later stage I discovered this thread. Should I wait for my message to be processed instead of asking in this thread?
Anyway, and just because I’m curious: exactly when was “the bug’s brief existence”?

hello, my blog needs fixing too: http://achristmaschild.wordpress.com
many of my pics aren’t displaying at the right size.
thanks in advance you guys… :) -
266 posts — this is super-confusing. With me, it seems OLDER images are affected more than recent ones, and they are certainly not images that I have recently resized.
I hate to ask anyone to repeat anything, but how am I going to resolve this?
Don’t we need some kind of sticky post on this?
Thanks!!

WordPress Support does not help … they very rarely respond. You can say that’s bad, or they do a great free service and they don’t need to respond. We’re not supposed to criticise WP. But I am hoping someone here at the Forum (where responses are great) can talk me thru this. It is not really OK in my opinion that WP do not just fix this or make any statement.

Not shouting just a bit frustrated…not meaning to be rude.
I actually did say please and thankyou!
Thankyou

There are 270 comments in this thread and Staff have been responding to all of those who post and rectifying their images issue by running a fix in the backend. As you can see by reading the entries ion the thread all members do is post a link to their site with this images size issue and Staff fix it. There is nothing to be talked or walked through.

OK and thanks. Support on these forums is always great: it is just that, whatever the issue, WP rarely respond when it is beyond the scope of a forum and one goes to them directly. As to talking and walking though, are you saying I don’t need to do anything further?
Sorry if I too sounded frustrated.
Thank you!

My images are not showing original size when clicked on my last two posts..now showing only a standard full size ( set in theme)
-
A WordPress guy fixed mine thanks.
However, if your reading this staff-blorbo, the problem reoccurs when I insert an dimage and resize it using the HTML. I got around this by removing the image and inserting it and choosing Medium instead.
Bu this does mean that WordPress does not now allow mages to be resized to anything but the presets.
So there is still a bug somewhere.
-
timethief … are the fixes that stuff are running respecting the specific sizes for each of the images that we selected? Or is it a one size fits all?
-
also, it would be good to have an idea of what the time window of this bug was … if narrow, we could reload the images manually.

@davidderrick
I suggest you wait patiently for Staff to get to your comment and act on it. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wp-changed-format-of-my-pictures-why/page/9?replies=276#post-765881 -
