Wp.com business plan vs. Managaged Hosting (ala Pressable)

Can someone explain the difference between the WP.com business plan and managed hosting (i.e. that offered by Pressable)? It seems like you can do anything on the business plan that you’d be able to do on a site that has managed hosting, since you can now use plugins, custom themes and add JavaScript.

    Am I missing something?

    Hi allabastro78,

It seems like you can do anything on the business plan that you’d be able to do on a site that has managed hosting, since you can now use plugins, custom themes and add JavaScript.

We have some information about the main differences between self hosted WordPress.org sites (managed hosting) and those using the Business plan, in this support documentation:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

As you mentioned, custom plugins and themes can be installed and we take care of security and backups. The Business plan also includes a personal setup session with one of our Happiness Engineers in addition to email and Live Chat support.

We don’t provide FTP access though — which is typically available with managed hosting.

Come back to me if there is anything else you would like to know.
