  Being new to wordpress I understand that the plugins are to be kept in /wp-content/plugins/ directory. but sadly i am not able to find this particular path. Can anybody please guide me?

  There are no plugins on wordpress.com blogs.

  @silverenlighted-can I suggest that your first stop be to read the two sticky posts at the top of the forum. That should help to explain a few things.
