WP critical error on this website

    Hello. I’m a brand new wp user, but I can’t even get through the install. My hope is to develop my site locally & I installed XAMPP 1st, which next step is to install WP. Keeps showing ‘There has been a critical error on this website.’ message during wp install. I need help to get wp up & running!

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    Hi there,

    Right now you’re posting in the support forums for the hosting provider, WordPress.com, but you’re using the open source version of WordPress made over on WordPress.org. We don’t really have expertise of running that version of WordPress locally, as that’s not something that’s possible with the modified version of WordPress we use here on WordPress.com :)

    Please ask the WordPress.org community for advice instead. They provide support for the version of WordPress you’re using, and have a subforum specifically for help with local installations:

    That said, you should also check out Local by Flywheel. It’s a much simpler way to run WordPress locally than XAMPP/MAMP.

    You might also want to consider WordPress.com instead.
