WP deleted 500 blogs posts I had stored in the trash- how to restore?

  • Unknown's avatar

I found errors on 500 of my blog posts, and so moved them to the trash so I could edit them later. I did not know that WordPress would delete these after thirty days. Some notification might have been helpful before they permanently destroyed the majority of my blog posts. How can I restore all 500 blog posts?

For what site is this? Without a link to the site you need help with, we cannot give you an accurate reply.

We needed to get rid of these older blogs due to copious errors found in them. We placed them in the trash, and I began the tedious process of correcting 404 errors, etc. I would like to regain access to these blogs, and our hosting company is unable to retrieve them.

and our hosting company is unable to retrieve them.

Thank you for that additional information. If you have a hosting company, then you are posting in the wrong forum. You’ve posted your question in the support forums for sites hosted by WordPress.com, but your above site appears to be using the standalone WP software.

Standalone WP and WordPressdotcom are different entities; more information about the differences can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Help for self-hosted sites using the standalone WP software can be found over at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page and at https://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums, you can register one on that page.

    Best wishes

  • @gill5698 we don’t have them here since your site is self hosted, unless you were paying for Jetpack Premium with its backups.

But your hosting company may be able to help you restore from a recent backup, or if you have your own manual backups, you could access the data there. You’ll want to refer to WordPress.org for more help with this.
