  WordPress.com blogs cannot be equipped for ecommerce and they cannot use plugins. Additionally, selling things you, yourself, do not manufacture is against the Terms of Service here.

  I’m not selling anything, this is for a class. The product we would be selling would be manufactured by us so I don’t know what you mean by not manufacturing myself. so is there another part of wordpress that we should be on?

  You will need to hire a web host and set up your own WordPress.org software install so you can add a shopping cart. That’s not possible here at WordPress.com as our blogs cannot be equipped for eCommerce transactions and there is no upgrade you can buy here that changes that.
