WP for Mac doesn't recognize Bluehost site?

    Hello All,

    I’ve recently purchased the Bluehost plan with WP preinstalled, but I’m having issues logging in to my site via the WP application.

    I see that there’s a button for adding self hosted site but when i click on it i’m told to install Jetpack…which I did. But when i logged in to the WP application now I see no sites under my name at all (”You don’t have any WordPress sites yet.”)

    On the other hand, I have no issues logging into my site via bluehost admin panel on my web browser (chrome).

    Please advise…What is going on? WP seems to think that I have no site & need to create one yet via Bluehost I already created one (‘coming soon’ displayed).

    If I cannot install WP on Mac how do i install the downloads from wordpress.org?

    It looks like your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted at Bluehost.

    Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.

    In order to use the WordPress app for your site hosted with Bluehost, you need to connect the Jetpack plugin to your WordPress.com user account. Then, follow the steps here to log into the app.

    If you see a “create a site” here at WordPress.com, that means your Bluehost site is not connected to your account.

    Thanks so much for the tip!

    I was able to resolve and connect Jetpack by manually going to Bluehost admin panel – click on JetPack plugin – see details; after scrolling to the bottom of the Jetpack setting details page there is an option for approving connection between wordpress.com to self hosted sites.

    After hitting the “approve” button I went back to the WP for Mac app and my self hosted site finally appeared under ‘my site’.
