WP Form Not Sending Emails When I Update My Blog

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi! I set up a WordPress website and attached a WP Form (lite version) to my blog in order to get subscribers. However, my subscribers are not notified when I post. Only a few people are notified, and that’s only because they commented and they were able to subscribe that way. Some people who commented do not receive updates either, even if they click on the box before submitting their comment that says they would like to be notified of future updates. I’ve tried a few different things to get the WP form to work, but everything I have done so far just doesn’t seem to be working. I’m relatively new to this so it may just be beginner’s troubles, but I’ve done as much as I can and have made no progress. Any help, advice, or other ways of getting people to sign up would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Hi! Did you mean to post in the WordPress forums for the free software? I don’t see any WordPress.com sites on your account.

These forums are specific to the sites using our managed service. We take care of maintenance, security, and support for the WordPress sites hosted on our servers, so if you’re interested, we have more information here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

That said, if you’re using Jetpack, it has a feature much like what you’re describing. You can check that out here:

    Jetpack

    Hope that helps!

Hi, thank you for answering. I paid for WordPress and set it up through Bluehost (my domain is vibingonvinyl.com if that’s any help to finding it). I tried the Jetpack feature when I first set up my blog and it didn’t work, there was a button that said “Subscribe” and people who viewed my website weren’t album to click the button, so that’s why I switched to WP Forms Lite to see if that would be any different. I will look at the link you attached to see if that can provide any help with the Jetpack plugin. If you know anything about the WP Forms Lite plugin and why people who fill out the form aren’t notified about my updates that would be incredibly helpful. Thank you again for answering my post, I will be sure to look at the attached links.

Contacting support for that plugin directly is your best option for any issues regarding that plugin:

    https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/wpforms-lite/

However, that is simply a contact form plugin, intended to allow people to send you messages privately rather than commenting publicly on your posts. It is not a subscription service.

To add a signup form for subscriptions you’d instead need a newsletter plugin like Mailchimp. Then you can send out a newsletter to subscribers each time you publish a new post – this won’t happen automatically though.

To have this happen automatically you need an actual blog subscription plugin, and we’re only able to recommend Jetpack in that regard, which uses WordPress.com’s subscriptions service. But the folks in the WordPress.org forums might be able to offer you more suggestions for this type of service.
