WP-Forum problems

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ll try to make this quick. I can’t figure out how to set up a forum on my site. I am trying to use the WP-Forum plugin. I activated the plugin after installing and added <!–WPFORUM–> to the HTML of the page called “forum” as instructed but I am getting an error when I visit the page I put it on as you can see here: http://ninjagang.com/forum/

Does anyone know what I am doing or any easier ways to get forums on a wordpress.com site? Or is it even possible :? I’m not too great at all this yet and I know my site doesn’t look to great yet, but please be patient with me.

    Thanks and Happy Holidays!

This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums.

If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.

If you forgot to include a link to your blog, you can reply and include it below. It’ll help people to answer your question.

I have a domain for my site, but I use the wordpress.com control panel. I don’t do anything on my actual computer, nor have I downloaded the wordpress.org software so I believe wordpress.com is the right place to post this. My blog is

    http://www.ninjagang.com

No it is not the correct place. We do not provide support at wordpress.COM for any bloggers other than those who have free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM.

To get support for a local wordpress install you must post here > http://wordpress.ORG/support/

This blog http://www.ninjagang.com is not being free hosted by wordpress.COM
This blog http://wowbro.wordpress.com/ is being free hosted by wordpress.COM

Thank you for the reply. So even though I do not have a local wordpress install it should still go under wordpress.org? My blog was hosted free at wordpress until recently when I purchased the domain so that I could remove the .wordpress from the URL. I still use the control panal and everything from wordpress.com and don’t have anything installed locally. I figured my situation would more closely relate to the people on wordpress.com.

Yes and sorry for not being more clear. We do not provide support at wordpress.COM for any bloggers other than those who have free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM. All blloggers asking for support for any blogs that are not free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM on this mutli-user blogging platform must post to this support forum > . http://wordpress.ORG/support/

@wowbro, your site is now hosted at godaddy as shown here: http://ismyblogworking.com/ninjagang.com .

That means your blog is no longer hosted here at wordpress.COM, but is self-hosted at godaddy. As Timethief says, the correct support forum for self-hosted wordpress blogs is the .ORG forum.
