WP Hack
-
I’ve been hearing the several WordPress blogs have been hacked, how do I know if mine has been? My blog is set up as private and any time I log in, I’m now required to enter my login and password 2 times instead of just once. Also, I’m no longer taken to the actual blog as soon as I log in, I’m taken to the dashboard. Is there a way to change this back?

When you log in you should be taken to the Dashboard, this is normal.
Can you walk me through exactly what you were doing to log in – specifically, how you had to log in twice?
-
Is it normal for those who aren’t the administrator to be taken to the dashboard? Before, they were taken directly to the blog.
I go to our website, http://www.everyeagleeveryday.net, it takes me to the site and says the blog is private and if I’ve been invited to login. I enter my login and password and hit “Log in” This takes me to essentially the same screen asking for my login and password, however it doesn’t say anything about the blog being private. Under the box for the log in, it has the option for Register/Forgot password option and under that is has a link with a back arrow that says “Back to Eagle Communications.” If I click that link, it takes me back to the original login saying that the blog is private.
I know I’m not the only user of this blog experiencing this issue.

Okay, can you check to make sure you have third party cookies enabled in your browser? I just checked things but only had to log in once. If you don’t have third party cookies enabled that could be what’s causing your custom domain name to not recognize you as logged in. Thanks!
-
I verified, the third party cookies are enabled in my browser. I have verified with 3 other users and they are having the same issue. We have not had this issues until yesterday.

I’m not seeing the problem myself.
Can you tell us which browser (and version of) you’re using?
Also, where did you hear that “several WordPress blogs have been hacked?” It’s definitely not true.
-
We have one user using Windows Explorer 7 and I’m using Firefox 5.0. We are both having the same issue.
-
Hm, ok those should work as well, though IE 7 is vastly out of date, and that particular user should consider upgrade at least to IE 8, if not a completely different browser like Firefox or Chrome.
I’m beginning to think this could either be cookie or cache corruption. Would you please try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies? http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

Ok, so you visit http://everyeagleeveryday.net/ which asks you to login. You enter your username or password, which then takes you to yet-another login form? Can you tell us what the URL of the second login form is?
-
That is correct. Here is the link to the second login page it takes me to http://everyeagleeveryday.wordpress.com/wp-login.php

Interesting, I can’t explain why it was working for me before, but now I see the problem. It’s affecting all private blogs with a domain mapping upgrade.
There’s nothing malicious or damaging going on, just an inconvenience that you need to login twice.
We’ll look into this.
