WP member accepts invite from blog but does not show up as user

  WP member accepts invite from blog but does not show up as user. There was a thread on this, but the support person fixed it for that one person and then closed the thread without enlightening the rest of the world about the problem and the solution. This new thread is an attempt to elicit something more helpful.
