WP: no disclosure of e-mail addr in comments notifications

    Re: wordpress.com hostngh.

I see that when somebody makes a comment on my blog that I get full disclosure of their e-mail address in the notification e-mail which is sent to me.

I wonder of the reverse is also true, i.e. if I (as the blog owner) reply to a comment can the receiver then see my e-mail address in the notification message ?

If so, how do I turn it off so that I can keep my e-mail address private ?

I’m at bit baffled by this. When I signed up on wordpress.com the initial page said that my e-mail would never be displayed.

You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.

This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums.

The reverse is true, to convince yourself just comment on someone’s blog and set email confirmation on

@tandava108: So that means that my e-mail address is far from private !!!

How can I turn off the disclosure of my e-mail address ?

Sorry I messed up the answer – the reverse is not true, commenters don’t see your email

See this article about email privacy when commenting:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/#privacy

When you leave a comment on a blog at WordPress.com, and if you are logged in, your email address is made available to the owner of the blog when they see your comment. This is the same as you see when people comment on your blog.

    (emphasis, mine)
Non admins, that is, other comenters or users (contributors, authors, and I think editors) cannot see your email address.

Editors can approve comments and they also see commentators email addresses

Guys, the question was solely whether commentators could ever see the the blog owner’s e-mail address, not the opposite which I already know to be case.

tandava108 has made direct answer to this topic above.

Sorry, this may seem like a naive question to you lot but I’ve always been the blog owner, never the commentator, so I haven’t seen what notification messages in that direction look like.

Yes, and these are public forums where folks can read all of this stuff we are writing. Lots of people are looking for information here, not necessarily commenting or asking questions, so it doesn’t hurt to make things as clear as possible.

It’s the simple things which trip us.
“Where are my glasses? I’ve looked everywhere and cannot see them!!”
duh: on top of my head…
