PLEASE HELP! I wanted to start fresh with working on my website, so I was logged into the dashboard and added a reset plugin. When it logged me out of WP, then I tried to log back in, neither my username or email address are being recognized. I own my domain wellspringlane.com and I’ve always been able to use it with WP. I’m a total beginner at this but I was doing well until tonite when I tried to reset the site. Thank you for any help!!!

  • Hi there,

Your site at wellspringlane.com is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software, hosted at Bluehost.com.

What you describe is fairly common with reset plugins – some of those reset the entire database, including the database tables that store your user account info, unless you specifically tell it not to.

You should be able to reset your admin user credentials/create a new admin user from your hosting control panel at Bluehost. Or otherwise their support should also be able to help with this, so please contact them directly.

For general help with the version of WordPress you’re using, you can ask the WordPress.org community over at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
