WP novice trying to upload pdfs
-
I’m trying to set up a private blog for study purposes. I can’t upload pdf files with more than one page – they just seem to end up showing the front page of the file as an image. I don’t seem to have the tool bars on my screen that are in tutorial videos, so I can’t follow the given instructions…. does anybody know what I can do?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Make sure you are using the instructions for wordpress.com, not wordpress.org (self hosted version).
When you are creating a post, go to Add >Media > Documents > Add new > Choose a file > Insert
The link should appear in your post.
Does it help? -
Thank you – when I’m trying to edit the post, if I click the + symbol it only gives me “add block”, if I click that, I have options but no media option….

I think you are using the new WordPress Editor, but checking the instructions for the old one. If you want to keep this one I recommend reading this article
https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-editor/.
If you plan to add a lot of media it will be a good option. However if you prefer to stick with the classic one – when you are creating a new post, click the 3 dots in the top right corner and hit Switch to classic editor.
Is is helpful?

Oh my goodness!!! You’re right, and I’ve inserted the pdf as you said in your first response. Perfect! And so easy. I have been struggling literally all day. Thank you so much – you restored my faith in WordPress (and humanity!).
