WP plugins folder
-
I have a plugin that I would like to add to the WP plugins folder,(/wp-content/plugins/), but cannot find the WP plugin folder. How do I locate it?
Thanks,

WP.com doesn’t allow you to install custom plugins. Doing so would require FTP access which presents a security risk. You could sugggest it through the feedback panel, though.

I have the same question. I’m new to wordpress, and have a few wordpress plugins that others have created that I would like to add but have no clue how. They come with instructions like add it to your plugins folder. Huh?
Example: “To install, unzip it, and upload the sociable folder (not just the files in it!) in your wp-contents/plugins folder. In your WordPress administration, go to the Plugins page to Activate the Sociable plugin and a subpage for Sociable will appear in your Options menu.”

Read the pink sticky that Dr. Mike mentioned. Sounds like you might be in the wrong place.
Plugins work with self-hosted WordPress.org blogs. They do not work with WordPress.com blogs. The details are in the FAQ’s.

Hi postergirl
There is a post at the top of the forum in the pink sticky thread titled “Please read me first before posting” and it lays out the description of the different services that wordpress.com and wordpress.org offer. The two operate on different software. Aside from Aksimet we do not have plug-ins at wordpress.com so the others who responded to this thread knew that the original poster and you were asking in the wrong place and tried to get you to read and discover that for yourselves. http://wordpress.com/forums/topic.php?id=3700&replies=1
Bloggers who self host their own blogs or who have hired web hosts have a support forum over here http://wordpress.org/support -

I see. Could someone point me to more info on moving an existing .com blog to a .org account?

In this following thread myself, sunburntkamel and britgirl have created a resource with instructions and explanations for importing blogs between wordpress.com and wordpress.org. This resource may be helpful. :)
Edit: Thanks for the eagle eye drmike. Here’s a link that may be useful http://wordpress.org/hosting

The *.org isn’t a place that offers hosting. You can download the WordPress software and go find yourself a host from that site.

Im new to wordpress , as i notice that now , we are able to put in musics but i really dont understand the instructions , its too short and it doesn’t help out at all …. im having problem wif the installition of the 1 pixel audio player …mainly hving problem in plugins…

The audio player is already installed in your blog. You don’t have to install it.
What’s the URL of the file you’re trying to have loaded? One of us will give back the cod ebit that you need to use.

I don’t find a wordpress.com blog for your username. If you have downloaded software from wordpress.org and are self hosting then you need to go here http://wordpress.org/support Or, if you have a web host, then you need to contact that person. This is because we run on different software here at wordpress.com and we will not be able to help you.
If you do have a wordpress.com blog then using the forum search box is recommended. This is what I found http://tigredefogo.wordpress.com/2007/05/08/tutorial-google-sitemap-solution-for-wordpresscom-blog/

Or search for google sitemap here in the forums as it’s been discussed abot a hundred time now.

Sheesh – Didn’t anyone notice that I posted the link to the thread with the google sitemap for wordpress.com tutorial?
