WP Reader: How are stats recorded? Emails and transferring to a new theme help?
-
WordPress Reader: How come videos are invisible in the reader even if a featured image is attached? I raise this question because if for example I embed a video from Vimeo or YouTube I have no way of knowing if my followers are even watching the video content. At the very least my status should reflect each play accordingly currently it does not. Its my opinion that if a feature image is attached then that’s what should be featured on the WordPress Reader not the video.
WordPress “likes button” WordPress improved a pond its WordPress reader which is a much better I might add. However, How come likes are not counted are not reflected in your stats?
Final thoughts with regards to the WordPress reader: I don’t think its the best practice of WordPress to create a easy to view reader and not have the content if a follower likes, plays the video etc and not have it count as part of the blogger stats. I believe it should be that all “likes”, video views (from embed sources such as vimeo and youtube) etc if a follower clicks on it should be counted or a featured image and/or a write excerpt should be what’s viewed in the reader. If the followers whats to see more of the content featured then he or she would click on it and it will bring them to the posting that is on the bloggers actual site and the stat will then me recording accordingly.
The way the readers is operating now it prevents bloggers from truly knowing what their followers are actually viewing.
Emails: I raised this question once before however I believe its another valid request. If wordpress allows for people to follow blogs via email. Why is it the emails that are sent out don’t reflect the actual look of the posts with the embedded video. Your post designer allows for different font sizes etc. but the emails from what I were told are “adjusted” to allow for all emailing systems to view the post. The end result is the post content becomes distorted, content is missing, videos are missing, even some photographs become misaligned. Because of this I can allowing used the summary options for my email followers which is regrettable.
Switching between themes: I’m interested in perhaps switching a new theme called “collections” however I have so many pages attached to my blog that everything doesn’t transfer over correctly. If I were to purchase a new theme that would mean spending days or weeks converting everything to the new theme is there a faster way to do this? Currently there isn’t a way to redesign your blog with a new theme while your blog is running with the old theme. If were possible at the very least blogger would have time to redesign the content before the new theme becomes visible to its followers.
Anywho just a few thoughts any insight will be happily accepted.
Thank You
Brandon W.

Hello there.
1. What is your question about the featured image in your Reader? It’s not clear what you’re asking. Please provide a link to a Post/Page that exemplifies your issue.
2. Likes are visible to visitors to the site. As that number is already visible and accessible to you, it would be redundant to add them to the stats page.
3. It sounds as if Stats are incredibly important to you. Perhaps, if WordPress.com isn’t providing the functionality you want, you would be better served moving to a self-hosted site? Then, you’d have more flexibility in gather the information that’s vital to you. If you haven’t looked into it before, here are the differences between having a blog hosted on WordPress.com, and self-hosting via WordPress.org:
4. If the design of you email is vital, and if we aren’t offering the service you want, have you looked into an outside service such as MailChimp?
Currently there isn’t a way to redesign your blog with a new theme while your blog is running with the old theme.
5. This is possible. You can register a new blog, export all the content from your old site, and import it into the new one. Then, activate Collections on your new site. Once you site is set up as you like, you can change the name of the old site and replace the name of the new site with the old.
Thanks much. Let us know if you have further questions.

Hey,
Regarding stats and switching over to self-hosting, leaving wordpress.com was never my intention and yes I’m aware of self hosting, however thank you for your recommendations. I’m pleased with the functionality of wordpress considering your software make this process effortless. I only want to know if there were information out there as it relates to wordpress.com that I wasn’t aware of. I know WordPress.com is improving its services all the time, if certain services as indicated above are “redundant” then I accept this accordingly.
All the best and Thank you for your assistance!
