WP shortlinks are cool, IDEAS

    I thought I’d add a good idea. Maybe wordpress can do what Bit.ly does and provide stats on how many people clicked on the short links. Also, maybe create a whole separate site for the short links.
    I just Twit That and Bit.ly and Tiny url because on their site they actually have like a latest urls type section and a search thing. That would be cool for wordpress to do. I can’t think of anything else but the stats thing would be cool, so that I know how many people from twitter and other sites click on the WP short link. and yes, I do know I’m suggesting an idea that most likely will never happen because it is a lot to ask for.

    I just discovered we now have a short link option in the editor I noticed the button after I clicked publish here is a screen shot > http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/5094/wpshortlink.png

    Clicks on short links will be recorded by WordPress stats as views on the destination pages. i.e. it doesn’t distinguish between someone visiting the short or long URL.
