wp shower forum for assistance, captcha not working

  • Unknown's avatar

I attempted to contact wpshower who created the Suburbia theme with some issues. When I attempted to get into the forum, I was turned away six times because I didn’t put in the correct Captcha response. Except I did.

So I registered and tried to contact wpshower, but again was told I entered the incorrect Captcha response. But I didn’t.

I want to: a) let wpshower know that their Captcha widget is not working, and b) send them the following message:

Your Captcha wasn’t working when I sent this before. I entered the numbers in correctly 5 times. Here is my original message:

‘I have tried and tried to work with your beautiful Suburbia theme, which shows a working sidebar on the left. However anything I try to put in the sidebar ends up in the column underneath the body of the blog. I put it into ‘Sidebar’, but all that remains in sidebar is the ‘About’ link. And your ‘example’ photo shows other things in the sidebar besides ‘About’. How do they get in there?

Can you possibly tell me how to access the sidebar without using a lot of html and css jargon, because that means nothing to me. If I am doing something wrong in your simple directions, I need to know. If your directions are incorrect, please give me the correct ones.

Suburbia is a beautiful theme and I want to use it, but in it’s current state, it’s just not practical.

    Thanks’

As there appears to be absolutely no other way to contact this person, I hope that WordPress as an oversight company can find a way to deliver this information to its subscriber as knowing no one can contact them might be important information.

I see this is going to a forum instead of an actual person, so good luck, wpshower. I doubt anyone else will be able to contact you, either, unless they are actually employees of this company, which forum members are likely not. I’m sure you’ll have as much luck as I usually do with forums. Is there NO WAY to contact a person to get something done anymore?

Since Captcha can’t be used on a WordPress.COM site

The site you are asking about does not seem to be hosted on WordPress.COM so you need to make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using.

This site is for support of sites hosted on WordPress.COM. You should address your questions to WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using: http://wordpress.org/support/

The forum at WordPress.ORG is not connected to WordPress.COM so you will need to open an account at .ORG if you do not already have one. You may use the same email at WordPress.ORG as you do at WordPress.COM.

If you are asking for help with a WordPress.COM site then we need a link to that site to give you accurate help.

The theme is hosted on wordpress.com. Is there anyone on Wp.com who can help me with the theme issues? I’m afraid I’ll have the same problems trying to track down people on .org and they aren’t so helpful with .com because we don’t pay for services while they do.

And I know the difference, I am on wp.com. I don’t need to open a wp.org account, I need someone who can tell me how to solve the issue with the theme. Thanks for being so condescending.

WordPress.COM theme versions are licensed for use only on WordPress.COM blogs. They cannot be exported and used on self hosted WordPress.ORG software installs.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Yes you do need a WordPress.ORG account to get help with the WordPress.ORG version of the theme.

    Thanks for being so condescending.

And as far as your snarkiness goes, do understand this is a peer support forum only for WordPress.COM issues. We have a code of conduct https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-forums-community-standards?replies=1 below every comment box you find this:

We love positive and productive discussions, so please keep comments on the topics at hand and not on other members of the community. Thanks!

If you take a cheap shot at one Volunteer then it would be unrealistic to expect the rest of us to run on over to help you.
