WP Stats plugin not working properly in firefox 3

    Hi,

I have a problem with WordPress.com, or the WP Stats plugin and Firefox 3 (OSX, leopard)

After upgrading to firefox 3 beta 3 (OSX, Leopard) from Firefox 2 I noticed this problem.

    1) when I login to my own wordpress blog (hosted myself, on external server) and click the “Blog Stats” button I always gets asked for my wordpress.com username and password.

    2) When i enter the username/password I get the wordpress.com global dashboard profile page instead of the stats. Here is a screenshot of what I see:

    3) To get to the stats I have to click Dashboard, then Blog Stats.

    4) Blog stats load fine.

In firefox2 or Safari, then I click blog stats (on my blog) I get taken to the WordPress.com blog stats immediately.

    I have the same problem.

I’m not staff, but I doubt seriously if WordPress will start making sweeping changes to their software for a beta browser, which could change drastically by the time it makes final release. It’s like chasing gnomes in the forest.

I’m also not staff, but I would say that if you detect problems while testing beta software you should report it to the developer of the beta software and not to a third party.

I am sure WordPress.com would appreciate knowing that their software may be broken with a new browser in advance. It may be a problem with FF3b3 but it may be a problem with WordPress.com.

But the browser isn’t finished. If they fix something now, and then FF changes it, it’s un-fixed and wordpress has to fix it again. With Safari 3 beta, they did not start any changes until after it was out of beta, otherwise they end up chasing their own tails (it would be humorous to watch, but it doesn’t get them anywhere). I’m sure in their stable of browsers, they have FF beta and are looking at it.

With Safari 3 beta, they stated that they would not do anything until it was out of beta and released.

I have this exact same problem and I’m using FireFox 2.0.0.12. Anyone ever figure out a solution?

If you have the adblockplus plugin, try deactivating it and restarting the browser and see if that takes care of the issue. Sometimes it is a little overzealous.

Also, log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, shutdown and restart your browser and try again. Sometimes it is a cache or cookie issue.

I don’t use adblockplus but clearing the cache and cookies works the first time. I login click dashboard->Blog Stats. It asks me for my wordpress.com username and password, I enter them, click remember me and login. It takes me the stats page. I go back to the dashboard and click Blog Stats: it asks for my username and password again. I enter them and it takes me to my wordpress.com profile :(

    Really annoying.

My WordPRess Stats are not working at ALL. Nada. NONE. I went back and made sure I activated the plugin and it’s active. I know I’m getting hits and comments on my blog and my stats are ALL showing 0 or NONE. Everything is at 0. What is the deal with the WordPress Stats? Does anyone know? Anyone know of another plugin that might ACTUALLY WORK. I need some STATS asap. Very frustrated.

bdweb6687d, please don’t hijack other people’s threads and don’t post twice on the same issue.

Are you running that garbage Norton Internet Security?

If so, might want to turn off its cookie breaking functions…
