Hi. My name is Brenda and I really like WP. But I’m having a hard time trying to use the WP Theme “Sight 1.0.1” in my blog. The problem is: It’s not avaliable in the list of theme, but it is a WP Theme according to the disigner: WPShower.

Hi Brenda. You cannot add a theme to a blog hosted by WordPress.COM. See here for an explanation and alternatives:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/If you actually have a self-hosted WordPress.ORG, then you are on the wrong forum. Details here:

Thanks a lor for replying. But I really didn’t see that coming…, specially because this theme is avaliable and free in another blog website.
I’ll choose another one here because wp is much more elegant. =)

There are two different types of WordPress blogs. Those free hosted on the WordPress.com wpMU (WordPress multi-user) blogging platform which has some restrictions but also many unique features, and those that are self-hosted installs that can be obtained free of charge from WordPress.org.There are differences between the two. Free blogs from and being free hosted by WordPress.com are all on a wpMU (WordPress multi-user) blogging platform — they are not stand alone installations. Self-hosted installs that can be obtained free of charge from WordPress.org are stand alone installations.T
Themes found on the internet are for self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG and are not coded to run on wordpress.COM software.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/ Moreover there is no FTP access to wordpress.COM blogs so we cannot upload plugins or themes into them.If you wish you can request that Staff cosnider the theme you want be adpated so it can run on wordpress.COM software. In most cases that will mean that not all features in the WordPress.ORG version will be included. You can make a request in this forum. > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/themes

Thanks! It was very enlightening. But, in my case, there’s no need to make this request, I think. Now, I use Structure Theme which is neat and organized, much better.
However, thanks a lot @timethief

So if ill buy “Custom CSS” I can’t download themes and use them.
But I can edit CSS, so I can change the theme Im using, right?
So, are there some sites where I can just copy CSS code of the theme and use it on my blog? Coz Im not sure if I could make theme I want by myself. I can make some simple changes but thats all.And sorry for my english.

Yes, that’s right.

Yes, but you can only use these themes and no others. > Appearance > Themes

No. CSS is themes specific here at wordpress.com. You cannot use stylesheets from any other thremes or versions of them.
I can make some simple changes but thats all.
If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.
Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.
If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/editing-css/If you do purchase the upgrade be sure to read this article before starting your editing > http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/

Well, I was learning xhtml years ago but I don’t think I remember everything…
Anyway, I can make some little changes and of course learn more, so I guess Ill just try to change the theme like I want, see if its ok in preview and maybe buy Custom CSS :) Or ask for help in some forums :PThank you for answer!

Oh, one more, but important question…
If Ill buy Custom CSS, is it only for one blog or for all blogs on my account? -
One blog – each blog is separate and a second blog would require a second upgrade if you wanted to customize it.
-
-
Also note this please. When you purchase any upgrade it is specific and does not provide any extras begond what’s stated in the entry in the support documentation.
Same Rules Apply – The Upgrade does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes or plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and you will still be required to abide by our Terms of Service.
