WP Themes only show ‘blog mode?’ Don’t resemble the live preview?

Hi, I’ve used WP before, but when I choose & install a theme, it doesn’t resemble the ‘live preview’ and shows a simple, empty blog page with no posts. (This is a paid site hosted thru SiteGround.) I haven’t created any pages yet and this isn’t meant to be a blog. What did I do wrong this time?

PS: Perhaps you need to have created some of your own content to get a theme to look anything like the demo.
