WP using MS Access on IIS?
-
Can i use a MS Access database instead of MYSQL as its a cheaper option for me:) If so, anyone got any tutorials?

Perhaps you should be asking at http://wordpress.org/support
This wordpress.com hosted site is a multi-user wp-MU blogging platform. We run on different software. We do not have access to the database and cannot edit the underlying templates for our blogs. -
TT, I keep fixing that copy and paste of yours. You’ve got a slash mark where the period should be in front of the org bit.
Trooperbill, I’d suggest searching first when you get over there as I’m sure it’s been covered. I do believe though that the only option is MySQL.

Nah it was just a habitual typo – probably caused by coffee deprivation … lol.
I’ll double check in the future. -
Depends on where they get it from. I’ve seen folks repackaging wordpress and plugins for a couple grand.

Among the many benefits of Linux is the fact that for hosting purposes it is almost always cheaper. And that goes for its satellites like mysql as well obviously.

*shrug* I’ve got a dozen CDs in a desk drawer with MS server software on it. Legal and everything. I never paid anything for them.

ive got unlimited iis hosting but they charge me for mysql/mssql :( but if i can upload a mdb its free

I’ll be honest. I don’t think it can be done withour rewriting a good portion of the code. There are too many query statements floating around the code.
But as noted, best bet to bring this up is over at wp.org as that’s teh site for support of the software.
