WP vs 3rd party URL shorteners for twitter, and analytics
-
When you use publicize to alert your Twitter followers of a new WordPress blog, WordPress can automatically generate a short URL for your post, beginning in WP. However, there is also the possibility of using a 3rd party service like bit.ly or ow.ly.
O WordPress.com gurus, in your wisdom can you reveal any important difference between going WP vs going 3rd party? Specifically, I am thinking about the visibility these different options offer you for understanding your traffic sources and patterns (etc). Your thoughts?

The other websites could close down making all their links dead links. I believe one well known service recently shut down but for the life of me I can’t remember their name. But the WordPress links will always be here.
