WP.com not WP.org

vivian – yep, that’s in there too :)
We are also pondering linking to the entered blog but that has 2 potential drawbacks:
1. If someone has more than one blog, which does it link to?
2. Maybe they don’t want their blog linking to and their question doesn’t actually need that link.and we also need to be able to check for mapped domains. Wouldn’t want those posts being told to go to wordpress.org.
All solvable and it’ll be done but better to do it when any feedback can be acted on quickly.

Mark – I really don’t see a need to link to the entered blog, at least not in the user name. What I do think has to happen is that the blog is shown as a part of the question posted.
Absolutely you have to check for mapped domains.
Another related item – there are certain instructions below the reply box. Sometimes, we get a followup question from another user via the reply box. While I understand that you don’t want to clutter up the the instructions, perhaps you can also include something that reminds folks to include the blog link in the question. Something like “And be sure you leave your blog url if it is not linked to your user name”

https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/avathar-on-banner?replies=21#post-256391I also have been adding the link about linking there name to the blog
when need in a thread ( link I have been providing How to link your name to your blog)
The difference with this link is there is image reference. -

I’m bumping this thread simply because I have seen two threads closed today that were related to this very issue. However, before they were closed, no one added the WP.org tag, which, of course, defeats the whole purpose of us trying to identify these threads.

It was SO tedious last night. Even I ran around putting “wordpress.org” on things. There were easily half a dozen threads. Should I use “wp.org” instead?

Ditto.
If you look at the number of ORG users posting here over the past week since rosclarke started this thread, it really seems to me that it shows a big increase. Or maybe there were always this number of ORG users mistakenly posting here, but now we’re seeing them because of the tag? (I’m discounting the ones older than one week, even if they show up in the tag results.)

There’s a significant decrease in Wp.COM related posts in the forum. They’re relatively dead, so the .ORG posts show up more. It does seem to me there’s an increase, but maybe what’s happening is the forums are just pretty dead because WP.COM is working well and/or not getting many new users who can find the forums, and the .ORG flood remains static.

Good point, rain. Now that things have settled down with the wp.com software, I think we are seeing fewer .COM questions.
