WP.com to WP.org
-
Okey, so If I decide to buy a domain and switch to a WP.org site, can I keep my archives, posts, subribers, etc and if they try to enter my old blog will they be redirected to the new one?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Depends.
You can export your contents including all posts and archives and put it in the new blog. The problem is subscribers. If you change domains, they will have to subscribe again. This holds true, I believe, even if you purchase the redirect.

What exactly do you have to do to export your content and archives etc? Is it really advanced? Do you need html experience or something?

You’re welcome. raincoaster is right on. The export import is the easiest part. We Volunteers have answered this so often and there are those who leave and are completely ill-prepared to mange their own installs. I quote thesacredpath who lays out what skills are needed in my article and I tell it like it is.
If you are an experienced WordPress.com software user, and you have the skill sets required to set up and manage your own self hosted WordPress.org install then the instructions for making the move are easy to follow. But if you are not skilled at WordPress.com blogging, and also lack the skill sets required to self host your own WordPress.org install then acquiring those skills first is recommended.
If you are serious about blogging, if you intend to use a blog in any commercial way and/or to create a professional reputation, then whether or not you decide to have a free hosted blog at wordpress.com or hire a web host and self host a wordpress.org blog, I recommend purchasing a domain and domain mapping as early as possible.
