WP.com to WP.org import trouble

Hi all-
I realize this is more a question for WP.org forum, but i figured i would try to get a response here as i’ve tried over there and am in urgent need of help so here goes:I just signed up with BLueHost to host my own wp.org site. My Exported (from my wp.com blog) XML file is 3+ MB and it says the imported file to WP.org can’t be larger than 2MB. Therefore when i try to import it i get this message:
The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini
I’ve seen some people suggest to break the file into pieces, but i don’t know how to do this.
Can someone please help me? What do i do to get all my posts, etc over to new self-hosted blog.Thanks!!

I’m so happy to have you helping me. Yeah, my askimet was empty.
Some are saying i need to ‘split up’ the XML file into smaller ones–but i have no idea how to do that.
Someone else just said to Keep importing the same XML file and it will eventually get all my posts, but i don’t see this happening. Got any other pearls of wisdom you can please share w/ me?

I’m afraid I’ve never done an import, so I have reached the limit of my abilities here. But I know that there’s good advice on importing and exporting on

Thanks. Hasn’t anyone else out there had to deal with this? I’m sure others had a larger XML file…please help!
This is the error message i get when i try to import:

You need to ask over at http://wordpress.org/support/ since the people over there have all dealt with imports and such and do a search of the forum you will find 25 or 30 threads on the issue.
The php.ini file isn’t a wordpress file, but a file at your webhost. If the limit there is set too small you will need to contact the webhost to see if they will increase the size. It may also be that you will have to break up your xml file. Again, help for that can be found at wordpress.org.

Thanks vivian and sacred path! I will try that. I have asked at WP.org forums, but i’ve come to realize that there just seems to be more support (people who answer) here at WP.com and i will miss it!
