“Write” icon gone, unable to write or edit, can still navigate site

Suddenly I am unable to write or edit my articles, There is no longer a ‘write’ icon’. I can navigate the site same as always. The standard, top black banner choices, gravatar icon, are grayed out but still work. Site has been up for years, last entry mid June, I publish one article and some images each month. Read the possible solutions re plugins, reinstalling wordpress, themes, etc. Have not mucked with anything. Two suggestions offered, changing themes and reloading WP. Appears I have 20-10 theme. Can I mess this issue up further by choosing another theme and then going back to the original theme? How can I reload WP and is it possible to lose my years of published articles and images doing so?

I no longer see the “write” button which used to be top right. Perhaps they have changed things fir the umpteenth time?? Still, no worries. Now I see this +New/Post top left. I never used the “write” button anyway. It was flakey. I preferred All posts/Add New.

Thanks sooo much! You saved me a lot of grief. Went to ‘home’, found in ‘quick links’, ‘post to blog’, Darn if it didn’t work!!! Found another doorway as well. No clue if this is a workaround for a problem, or an intentional change to remove ‘write’ from the header page??? So did not check ‘resolved’. Resolved for my immediate purposes. thanks again, winterbear!
