Write Post in English:Use other language alphabet symbols, eg French

  • Unknown's avatar

I am an English language blog. Sometimes I use words that are not English in origin, eg cafe, that has an accented ‘e’, or German perhaps, eg grusse, that has an umlaut over the ‘u’ and usually what is called a double-S for the two ‘ss’ letters.

How can I access these sorts of symbols within my Write Post dashboard when I am creating the post? Thank you.

    Try this page

    http://www.initium.demon.co.uk/charactr.htm

For example for é you would type & eacute ; minus the spaces of course.

Sorry, I’ve just been into the post area and clicked onto the icon at far-right above the post-area. That brings up further things one can do and, in answer to my question, has an omega sign, like the Omega watch icon, which is the insert special character section which looks to cover the most common characters/symbols used.

Guess I should have looked first before asking the question…I’m kinda getting a little lazy these days! Been watching too much Le Tour de France live late at night recently. Go Cadel!

However, katm, thanks for your suggestion. I’ll bookmark the link and have a look.
PAUSE: Have just had a look. It’s terrific! Looks to be much the same characters as mentioned above. Thanks again! :)

    Ah.

I didn’t know the editor here had such a thing. I never use it. I write offline using BlogDesk.

Glad the link may be helpful.

    Good luck with you blog.

Or you can just use whatever facility your OS/software offers for typing foreign characters and paste them directly into your post. Letters like é, ô, ç, å, ñ, ß, ð, ž, ü, ł, ø, æ aren’t going to be interpreted as HTML anyway.
