Writing a blog

    Ok bear with me I as I’m not sure on how to describe this…, ok on my site, I want to try and have a diary, which I think is also called a blog….? No what I want to know is how to produce one ie, I have put the word ‘blog’ on a page & added it to my menu, but when I click on that word on the main site all I get is a different page which then reads as the main title ‘blog’

    How do I manage to get the word blog on the main menu, without having the extra bit on the page I come too & then managing to instead have page or post that I can begin to start a writing a diary on?
