Writing a new post
-
I am unable to publish a new post on a blog I have been using for over a year. In the past, when I would type the blog name into my browser, I’d be taken to the blog and a pencil icon would appear. When I clicked on this icon, I could write and publish a new posting. This icon no longer appears. Help
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The icon appears for me in the top right of the screen whenever I’m logged in.
You could try going here first, which would force you to login if you haven’t already:
https://wordpress.com/posts/whatwecookedlastweek.wordpress.comDoes that help?
I’ve just gone to your site and now I have enormous Triscuit cravings,
Jason, in England, where there are no Triscuits -
No – that’s where the icon used to appear for me. When I clicked on the link you sent I was taken to the blog “dunningsgroup” which I stopped publishing four years ago.
I’m stumped – but if you can help, I’ll send triscuits and an invitation to drop by for whatever’s on offer if you have occasion to visit Pittsburgh.

That says to me that you are logged in with the username that created thedunningsgang.wordpress.com. You must have a different username that created the What We Cooked Last Week site. I think I’m right about this. You know, I’ve been on these forums for such a long time and multiple usernames/domains still confuses me.
So, I’ll type ‘modlook’ into the Tags area on the right so a Staff member can figure this one out. (Though I think they’re doing that on another thread that you started)
I’d love to visit Pittsburgh one day even if it’s solely for Triscuits and that patty melt,
– Jason -
Thanks The patty melt is good – but try grilling a whole mackerel and serving with green peppercorn sauce. A fearsome looking, but delicious meal, which you may need after triscuits and patty melts. If it is possible to send triscuits, let me know and it shall be done.

@whstewart
The only site in this account is http://thedunningsgang.wordpress.com/
http://whatwecookedlastweek.com/ belongs to a different username. You’ll need to log in as the correct username that owns that site before you’ll be able to post to it.

Look – I've been writing the blog for over a year. Every time, all I've had to do was to go to the blog and click on the pencil icon. Now that icon has gone. How could that have changed? If I have a different user name, I've misplaced it. How do I recover it?

If you’ve forgotten your login details for your other account, your best option is to try all the email addresses you own, except the one you’re using for this account, on the password reset form.
I’ve also sent an email to the address associated with that account. Let me know if you don’t receive it.
