Writing On the main headline (Background headline?)

  • Unknown's avatar

I am currently using twenty ten and wanting to do some writing as my headline, I am hoping the links below will show you the word My Kingdom and how I want it done. I am wanting it right across the headline where the picture goes. The writing appears very small and in the middle, but the problem is the size of the writing and that it does not go from one side to the other? I am learning the rest (I hope as I go along but thats a different thing.

Waht exactly do you mean by headline?
Do you mean the Blog Title which is > Sharon Harvey’s Writing Website ©
    My Official Website ™

Do you mean the Title of a post?

What blog are you talking about? The one linked to your username is using Quentin.

How are you trying to put that into the blog? CSS or using typekit or what?

    Hi Guys,

Ok the first link, it should show you the ‘main headline’ as I call it, yes @timethief, sorry blog title! *Blush*!

The blog I am wanting to sort is the my second ‘site’ (I prefer that to ‘blog’)

Thats the second link, showing you that, now the third link is showing you the name of the blog and how I want it in the blog title? As it looks its small and centred, I want it HUGE and right across, a bit like I have Sharon Harvey’s Website on the first site. Am I clear now?? :)) X

@sharon, I’m still not entirely understanding. The bottom link above is dead and the image has been moved or deleted.

Do you want the “my kingdom” image you have created up were it now says “my kingdom” in the white above the header image?

    Or

Do you want the “my kingdom” to replace the header image (snowy scene)?

Hi @thesacredpath – so sorry for delay in replying, been ill :(

Yes, I think thats what I am wanting, the My Kingdom to replace the header of the snowy scene…..and also be huge as I showed in my link and from one side to the other.

Is that clearer…if not I shall try explain a different way :))

@sharon, first thing you have to do is to make a header/logo that is the correct size for the theme you are using. Twenty Ten header image has to be 940px x 198px.

First make a white image that size and then put in your text and size the text so that it fits the white area like you want it. Then save that image as a PNG. JPG is for photographic images and does not work very well for graphic type images. PNG is better.

After you have the image created, go to appearance > header in your dashboard and upload the new header to replace the snowy scene.

One thing I will mention, is that to hide the title at top left (in the white area) you will have to have the CSS upgrade.

The other option is to go to settings > general and delete the title and tagline, but from a search engine standpoint that is not a good idea.

    Hi thesacredpath

Have sent you an email back now…

As for your instructions above, I think I am going to have to print the instructions out, and read them as I go along…..
