    re: mapping an existing domain
WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible.

If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the WordPress.COM blog, and as you own a domain URL already, you can see here for mapping an existing domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made, it and the domain mapping purchase here, each and every year.

Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually and a domain name purchase and domain mapping are included in the Premium upgrade bundle.

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL. If you do not register a .wordpress.com blog URL first then the software supplies the dot whatever URL so you can proceed with your domain mapping purchase.

    See https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/

Your billing history will be at Dashboard > Store > Billing History
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/billing-history/

Your only options for payment are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/

It can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

    Non-WordPress.com Nameservers
Although exaltedgames.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined below.

We require that your name server configuration include only the following servers or their numeric equivalents:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Your name servers are as follows:

    NS3.WORLDNIC.COM
    NS4.WORLDNIC.COM

If you have access to change the nameservers for this domain, please remove all nameservers not on the required list above.

To learn about how to correctly map an existing domain, please see our documentation. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/#instructions-for-mapping-an-existing-domain If you’re not sure whether you own this domain or not, the WHOIS database record http://www.whois.net/whois/exaltedgames.com may help you out.

Note: Once the nameservers are redirected it can take as long as 72 hours for DNS changes to become widely available. If you’re still not seeing your site loading at exaltedgames.com, please wait a few more hours, clear your browser cache http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies, and try again.

  • Hi there,

    Are you referring to exaltedgamesdotcom.wordpress.com?

The reason why you see the dotcom on your blog URL is because you entered exaltedgames.com into the domain field when you were creating the address. Leave the .com out of the field and enter exaltedgames – you should get your desired results: exaltedgames.wordpress.com to go along side your custom domain, exaltedgames.com.

Let me know if you have any other questions or issues.

    Thanks!
