Wrong Domain Name Mapped to My WordPress Account
-
Hi,
My domain name expired and in the interim before I was able to renew it, it was bought up by WhoIs (I think?) and http://www.theunlostwanderer.com is no longer available. My domain mapping upgrade with WordPress was already automatically renewed with this old URL, even though it’s no longer owned by me. However, I just bought http://www.unlostwanderer.com, and would like to map that domain instead. Can I make this switch, or do I have to buy another domain mapping upgrade for this specific domain name (without the “the”)? Please say it’s the former!
Thanks!

Hi!
If your domain mapping is still current you can make your domain name point to your WordPress site by updating Nameservers. WordPress has a guide here:

Hi pcosta88. The problem is that when I try to map my WordPress site to my domain name, it asks me to purchase Domain Mapping again (for $13) in order to use my new domain name. What I’m asking is, do I have to purchase domain mapping again for a new domain name, even if my domain mapping is still current and paid for for this year?

Yes. New domain names require new domain mapping. One domain mapping per one domain name. If you have two domain names and they both point to your WordPress site, you would need two domain mapping.
