Wrong email at registration

I accidentally signed up with the wrong email. It’s the same as the email this account is registered under but I added .au to the end of the email. This of course doesn’t exist and can’t be created, so I can’t verify or change the email. An account merge would be much appreciated if that’s possible however I mainly just want to be able to recover the username. I didn’t set up a blog (and I don’t want to) so there’s no way that I can figure out how I can log in without verification.
    Thanks.

Hi, is this for a different account? If so, are you able to log in as that user? If you can, go ahead and reply from that account in this ticket, then we can work on changing the email and confirming it.

Thank you for your reply. I thought I made it pretty clear what the issue is, but anyway I’ll break it down very simply for you.

    I have 2 accounts.
    This one and another one.
The username of the other one is “cameronjonesweb”
The other one is the one I can’t access.
I submitted the wrong email at registration.
It’s the same email as the one this account has, just with .au appended.
I can’t access it at all as I can’t verify it as the email address doesn’t exist.
What I’d like to happen is to just have one account with the other account’s username. Whether the other one just gets deleted and I change this one’s username or the two accounts get merged in some way I don’t mind. I just really want to recover the other username.

    Thanks

Please complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums which are available to everyone with internet access.

    Hi timethief,

That form does not work. It was the first thing I tried. There is no blog associated with the account I’m trying to recover, but if I leave the blog field empty I get the following message:

Please provide the username, registered email, or URL of the specific blog you are contacting us about.

If I put in the email into that field, it truncates it to gmail.com.au, if I put the username in, I get this:

Sorry but the website you gave does not exist on WordPress.com. Is it a self-hosted WordPress.org website?

    Thanks

I understand the email is incorrect, but if you have the password and the username, you will still be able to log in. From there you could correct the address.

If the bigger problem is that you also do not have a password for that account, we would need evidence that the account does indeed belong to you. This article explains what options are available:

I know the username, email and password. I created the account. The thing is, I can’t log in, because the email does not exist, I cannot activate the account, and I cannot log in with activating it. How hard is that to understand?

To anyone else who runs into this, if you signed up via another Automattic service such as Gravatar, sign in first using that service, then switch to WordPress.com and change your address. Or you can contact us for help.

    Cheers!
