wrong headline

When I hare a post to Facebook, it’s showing the UNCORRECTED title. IT shares correctly to Twitter, but not Facebook.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Cynthia,

Can you please give me a link to a post where the wrong title was sent to Facebook? I’d like to take a closer look at it.

Also, how are you sharing the post to Facebook? For example, are you pasting a link to the post in a Facebook update, or using the Facebook sharing button at the bottom of the post?

I’m using the Facebook sharing button at the bottom of the post.

I can see the error in the URL: http://cynthiatveit.com/about-y-first-novel-devils-reflection/

It’s not just the headline that is wrong. It has reverted back to the test text which says “blah” instead of the post I’ve written.

See how it says “y” instead of “my” in the headline?

The headline has been corrected, and it shares correctly to Twitter, not FB.

    Hi Cynthia,

Thanks for sending me that link. If you published that post and later changed the post’s title to fix it, the original title is used for the link to the post. You can update that if you’d like, but I’d recommend leaving it as it is — otherwise any existing links to the post at http://cynthiatveit.com/about-y-first-novel-devils-reflection/ won’t work anymore.

Facebook also has a habit of caching (saving) the information about your post when you first publish it. You can check to see what Facebook has saved about your post in the Facebook debugger here:

    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

I took a look at your post in that debugger and found that Facebook cached the old post title. The good news is that if you look up the post in that debugger you can click on “Fetch new scrape information” to ask Facebook to update its cache.

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)
