Wrong image on Facebook when sharing SoundCloud embedded post
-
I created a podcast post and embedded the audio from SoundCloud, including the image I used on SoundCloud. It all works great, but when I shared my post on Facebook, instead of it using the image I chose from SoundCloud, it pulled my Gravatar image from WordPress. I tried changing the ‘featured image’ and clearing the Facebook cache, but clearing the cache didn’t work and setting the featured image changed my header on this post, which I didn’t like. I’m not the least bit proficient in any kind of coding (which is why I chose wordpress.com), but I’d appreciate any help or suggestions.

I see that this post is old, but I wanted to circle back and see if you are still podcasting and if you were able to solve the problem with the featured images.
The way it works is that WordPress.com sets an image using what’s called an OpenGraph tag with an image that meets the requirements listed at https://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#images-in-publicize
I tested updating a past post and the OpenGraph tag was updated, however, it’s entirely up to Facebook at that point whether or not to check back for changes (which I don’t think they do), so if you want the Facebook image to be correct at the time of publishing the post, you need to make sure a featured image is set *before* the post is published.
