Wrong IP address in Comments section
-
Hi! I have noticed that the last few times in which I have linked to an old post of mine from my latest post, my IP address in the Comments section is wrong (sometimes my IP address appears in the form 192.x.x.x).
Why does this happen?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Up :)
Is really a net down, people usually only post when they have an answer that is useful, also the staff and regulars look back at no response posts and take a look to see if they can help, so your post now looks like you are getting help, so you have reduced your odds a bit – also – many people will not help bumped threads unless the bump is from 48 hours or so back.

Good to know, thanks :) I will leave the topic status as “not resolved” anyway, hopefully I will get an answer soon.

Just to give you some more information: this only happens with pingbacks and not with actual comments (when I post a comment, the IP address is always correct).
The IP address that appears in pingbacks differs every time: sometimes it’s a local IP starting with 192, sometimes it starts with 66, sometimes with 79 and sometimes with 207).
My guess would be that it might have something to do with content duplication/load balancing and the like.

I would guess it’s taking the IP address of the particular server where the post is located, not yours per se. That’s why it changes.

These are the 6 IP addresses that WordPress.COM uses for all the blogs they host.

Not exactly those, but similar. I guess what raincoaster said is correct then.
