Wrong JSON API response when saving PAGE

the topic has been posted (repeatedly) over the last 3 years. Here is one of the earliest threads: https://wordpress.org/ support /topic /publishing-failed-error-message-the-response-is-not-a-valid-json-response-2/

I had to put spaces in the URL because it would not allow me to embed a reference to another topic. The topic has been marked CLOSED, but still remains open (has never been fixed).

I see there are still people struggling with this problem, and I was able to fix it by installing the CLASSIC EDITOR, and clearing my caches (using Clearfy and wpRocket on different sites). On this particular site I was using the BLOCK editor with Kadence Themes Pro and Kadence Blocks Pro when the error occurred.

Without the classic editor plugin nothing worked (not even changing the permalinks). I hope the WordPress Team will finally get this resolved (especially since it’s been open for so many years).

Apparently I’m not allowed to EDIT my own topic. When I said it was CLOSED what I meant was the topic in the discussions is closed, when I said it remained open, what I meant was: it’s still marked in development.

By the way, I received my answer from this resource: https://areawala.com/topten/publishing-failed/

  • Happy Friday. It sounds like you have this all sorted out. If not, write back to us here. Thanks.

You think I have it sorted because I have a solution?

because I have to install an OLD plugin (CLASSIC EDITOR) that wordpress developers themselves suggest doing away with, you think I have it sorted?

This is a workaround. And sooner or later wordpress devs are going to get rid of the classic editor. I really think, they should get on this problem and solve it. It clearly is an issue (and has been for years) with the Block Editor. When the classic editor goes away, then what? how will this problem be solved?

Fix the core code please. It’s time is past-due, and the fact that the devs even said (3 years ago) – it’s in development, means they should fix it.

  • Hi there,

I see you shared a link to a post on the WordPress.org forums (we’re WordPress.com, which is a different provider) so we do not have insight into the issue raised here:

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/publishing-failed-error-message-the-response-is-not-a-valid-json-response-2/

To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions. You can learn more about the performance and security benefits of our managed hosting here: https://wordpress.com/hosting/

Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at your current provider. You definitely have the option to move your site to us so we can provide in-house help, and we offer a migration plugin that will help you move your site to our managed hosting in just a few clicks.

    Import using Move to WordPress.com

The Move to WordPress.com plugin allows you to start migrating a self-hosted WordPress site to WordPress.com directly from the self-hosted site. Prerequisites The Move to WordPress.com plugin installed on your self-hosted WordPress site. All incompatible plugins deactivated on the self-hosted site. ✅ There is no need to create a site on WordPress.com before you get star

Unfortunately though, as it stands now, we are not able to help since it is hosted elsewhere. The JSON error you are referencing may be an issue on sites that use the open source version of WordPress (aka WordPress.org) but this is not an error I have seen on sites hosted with us. The good news is that help is available here at the open-source WordPress forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting

The folks in that forum are more familiar with these kinds of issues and are in the best position to help.

    Thanks!
