Wrong post titles on social media sites

    Hello,

I’m new to this blogging malarkey, so please excuse me if this has been answered elsewhere (I’ve had a look, but can’t seem to find any relevant answers).

I’ve noticed that posts shared to my Facebook and Twitter accounts have got the wrong titles on them. They’re not completely wrong, just variations from earlier drafts. They’re updating and saving correctly on my actual blog but I’d like cohesion across all, especially if I’ve changed them due to a spelling error!

Is this a glitch or something I’m doing wrong / can rectify? All help appreciated, thanks :)

    Hi,

To better troubleshoot the situation, could you provide an example of the wrong post title, and what the correct one should be?

    Hello,

Two of my post titles that appeared on Twitter were:

Void of Rainbows 2: Fissogs of Peeps

(Published title on WordPress was Void of Rainbows 2: Peeps and Fissogs)

    and

    This is NBC’s design

(Published title on blog was Is this my design…?)

They’re minor differences but I’d still like it sorting out. Both titles that appeared on Twitter were initial ones saved as a draft, but I altered them during the process of editing and updating said drafts.

    Thanks,
    Haylee

This sounds tricky. I’m going to tag this with modlook to get the staff’s attention.

    Thank you :)

    Any help appreciated!

    Hi there,

Sorry for the trouble! Our team is aware of that issue, but we’re still trying to track down the right way to fix it for everyone.

In the meantime, you can make sure the correct title is used by checking the Sharing section in the editor before you publish your post. There, you’ll see a box that says this:

If you would like a custom message to appear before the link to your post, enter it below:

If you changed the title of your post after saving it, you may need to update the message there so it has your new post title instead of the old one. We’ll keep working on a solution, but until then you can check that message to make sure it’s the one you want to send out before you publish the post.

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

    Thank you :)

I did find that option yesterday and wondered if it would work. I’ll just have to remember to check this before publishing.

On a different note – sorry if I need a new thread – is there a problem with the latest update of the app?

I signed up to Bloglovin’ yesterday and since then annoy load any stats on the WordPress app or view my followed blogs, likes or comments (have to sign into web version). Not sure if this is coincidence and actually a glitch with the update or a problem caused from Bloglovin’ sign up.
    Thanks,
    Haylee

    Hi Haylee,

Are you using the iOS app version 5.3 that just came out? If you log out of the app and then log in again, do you still have the same problem there?

The Bloglovin’ signup is very likely just a coincidence. I can help you troubleshoot that app issue to see what’s going wrong there.

    Hi again,

Yes I’m using the latest version of the app. I’ve signed in and out – good news my stats are back and I can see notifications again.

Bad news, it says I’m following no blogs in the reader section, yet if I swipe left to ‘followed blogs’ they’re all there. I just can’t see new posts from them. If I try to reenyer the URL it tells me I’m already following.

Not a big deal if I’m going to enter addresses into Bloglovin’, but still…

I’m glad your stats and notifications are working again — thanks for letting me know!

When you logged in, did you log in using your username or your email address? Our team has had some reports of lingering issues when you log in with your email address, so I just want to eliminate that as a potential source of the problem you’re still having in the Reader.

That’s done the job! I had used email to sign in as you said.

Thanks for all your help :)
