Wrong spacing after section titles
-
Hi,
I’m using the theme Twenty Seventeen and are facing problems with the spacing after the section headlines on my website http://www.burnout-praxis.com
Maybe it’s a bug, maybe I’m doing something wrong. I don’t know.
Here is the problem:
Without any additional CSS, there is no space line after the section headlines, at least on the homepage. Within the sections, however, there is a space line after the headlines. See the difference here: https://burnoutpraxiscom.files.wordpress.com/2021/10/picture-1.jpg
When adding the following CSS…
.entry-header {
margin-bottom: 1em !important;
}…there is a space line after the headlines on the homepage (that’s what I want), but there are 2 (!) space lines after the headlines within the sections (that’s not what I want). See here: https://burnoutpraxiscom.files.wordpress.com/2021/10/picture-2.jpg
I want exactly 1 space line after the headlines both on the homepage and in the sections. Any idea how to manage this?
Thanks!

What I forgot to say:
This problem is relevant in the mobile version only – or in the desktop version when the width of the browser window is 750 px or less.

Hi again! I wish I’d read this one first; it sounds like you’ve got some understanding of CSS :)
You just need more specificity in your CSS statement: the first item is an .entry-header, but so are all of the others.
Again, this type of advanced CSS is out of scope, but I’m happy to point you in the right direction. For this, you might consider using one of the many ways to target the first element. If you’ll search the web for
CSS firstyou’ll see there are lots of ways to go about it.Something like this may work, but you’ll need to do testing, or just accept extra spaces in some browser. And given that it’s for the mobile version only, be sure to add that CSS to the section that’s for mobile-width only.
And again, if you prefer to just hire someone to handle the changes for you, these folks can recommend a developer: https://wordpress.com/built-by-wordpress-com/
Cheers!

@supernovia, thanks a lot for your reply. Sounds more complicated than I thought. Alright, I will try in the next days to figure this out.
Still, it’s strange ’cause it’s the same headline, just one of them shown on the homepage and the other one in the sub-section. So I’m wondering if this is a bug.
Hopefully, I will find a way with “CSS first” to only change the space lines after the headlines on the homepage. If someone else has a concrete idea, always welcome. :)

Hi there,
It looks like you figured something out? I see the same spacing on your front page and other pages now between the title and the content.
I also just wanted to note that your plan gives you access to both live chat and direct email support, including for help with CSS questions. You can reach those at any time by clicking the Help icon that appears bottom-right on all the My Sites pages, or else via the direct link at https://wordpress.com/help/contact

@kokkieh, hi, unfortunately not. On my mobile device, the space line after the headlines in the sub-sections is still bigger than the space line after the headlines on the homepage. But I haven’t had time yet to figure that out. I will try in the next days.
In any case, thanks for the info that I also have access to both live chat and direct email support. If necessary, I will make use of that.
Have a nice day!
