Wrong title
-
Hi John! Apologies for the weekend delay. Because of the way our titles work, there isn’t a way to do this. I wonder if there’s another solution we can come up with.
You could remove the “The Pays Basque changed our lives” part from the title and add it as a category instead. I see you have all of these posts under the category “Basque Life” which means they appear here:
https://aquitaine2015.wordpress.com/category/basque-life/
Or you could add a dash (-) after the “The Pays Basque changed our lives” part. This could visually separate the section title for your readers.
Does either of those sound like solutions that would work for you?

Hi Shawna
I’ll look into the implications of what you suggest and get back to you if I may.
Thanks, yet again!

Good morning Shawna
I’ve tried to get my head round the matter of the titles; I’m not very expert at this am I? Not sure what I’d do without your help!
‘The Pays Basque changed our lives’ doesn’t attract much attention and I could easily drop it, which means the secondary parts (ie The promised land etc) would be on their own. This might be better.
Would that mean that everything would then come under ‘Anecdotes from Aquitaine’?
I bought ‘WordPress for Dummies’ but it lost me after the first chapter!!
Kind regards

If all of your posts fit in the same basic category, and it looks like they do, then your current solution works well. Nice work!

Many thanks; sorry, but I have two more queries!
1. Followers, such as they are, can only comment if they sign up to WordPress. Can I open the blog up to everyone to comment without them having to sign up?
2. Can I have a different Tag for each post?
Regards
John.

When users are logged in they will be prompted to comment with their WordPress.com account, but visitors who don’t have accounts can still comment. Here’s what they see.
2. Can I have a different Tag for each post?
You can. Here’s more info on how tags work

Actually Liz users don’t see that link. They see a box with ‘+ Follow’ and underneath it asks for their email address.
Below that it says ‘Sign me up’.
I think this puts people off!!

PS. I think it’s the word ‘Subscription’ that puts people off. They think they’ll have to pay!

That’s different. That’s for users who want to receive email every time you post. That’s what follow/subscribe means.
If someone wants to comment and they click in the “leave a reply” box, they see the box I showed you.
Does that help?

Good morning
I’m thinking of changing to Gazette instead of Boardwalk. Is it easy to change back if I don’t like it? Also, there are only 9 pics on your example. What happens of there are 20? Are they all squashed together??!
Regards
John. -
The best way to see if Gazette will work for your site is to preview it before you switch. The easiest way to do that is from the theme options in the customizer. You’ll click the “change” button next to “Active Theme: Boardwalk” and search for Gazette. Once you find the theme you want and click preview, you’ll be able to see your current content in that theme. If you like it, great! If you don’t, no harm done, just don’t click save.

Thank you. I tried that but not sure it’s an improvement! While I like the layout of the images a lot of writing is included from the post.
Is it possible to have just the images?
Regards

Gazette is designed to show the summary text. You might like Mixfolio better. Search for that one in the customizer and let me know if you like that one better.
Here’s more info about it if you want to take a peak first

I’ve changed it to Mixfolio and like it. It has missed out the first two posts tho’. How can I retrieve them?
Thanks
John. -
Your site is set to show 10 posts on your front page. Since you’ve written 12 posts, the first two are on page 2. You can click the “older posts” button at the bottom of the page to see them. If you want more posts to show on your front page, you can change that setting here.
