Wrong translation for "Confirmed Subscription" email
-
Hi,
I am encountering a translation issue which was raised by many other french users, hosting their blog on WordPress.com but with no solution found.
It concerns the “confirmed subscription” email which is sent in english but not in the appropriate language (french for me). It is the only affected message, all other messages are ok.
Unfortunately, this wording cannot be configured in the blog settings. I checked also that the corresponding translation was existing and approved in the translation forum (http://translate.wordpress.com/projects/wpcom/ ). You can check that this translation is in “current” status, meaning that it should be ok : https://translate.wordpress.com/projects/wpcom/fr/default?filters%5Bterm%5D=Congratulations%2C+you+are+now+subscribed&filters%5Buser_login%5D=&filters%5Bstatus%5D=current_or_waiting_or_fuzzy_or_untranslated&filters%5Bpriority%5D%5B%5D=1&filters%5Bpriority%5D%5B%5D=0&filters%5Bpriority%5D%5B%5D=-1&filters%5Bview%5D=&filter=Filter&sort%5Bby%5D=priority&sort%5Bhow%5D=desc
I think it looks more like a bug.
Would be great if you could help us because this issue is very old from what I read on different forums.
Thanks a lot for your support, WordPress is great !

To clarify, the string that you linked to isn’t appearing as translated in your emails? But the rest of the email is translated?
-
The translation issue concerns all the text in the email and not this specific string only. There is no wording translated at all in the email while the corresponding translated strings are existing and approved.
Do not hesitate if you have other questions.
Thanks for help ;-)

Ah! Okay. The subscription confirmation is set by the interface language setting here:
https://wordpress.com/me/account
I see that you’re set to French, so you should have gotten the email in French. I just tested this and got the French email.
Can you give me a link to the site you subscribed to when you got the English email?
-
It concerns a friend who subscribed to my blog : http://bellegarde30.wordpress.com/)
He has no WordPress account (so no preferences which could be set to english). He received a first email in french (perfect), asking to confirm his susbscription but a second one in english to confim his subscription.
-
Ah! Yes, that would explain it. The original email would come from your site, which is in French, so the email is in French. But the follow up isn’t connected to your site, so it falls back to English.
-
Ok but how can I connect the follow up email to my site ? It is not normal that only the first part of the email subscription flow can be configured and translated …

Hello there!
Sorry to hear about your trouble. Right now, unfortunately, non-WordPress.com users will receive the confirmation email in English after subscription. There isn’t a way around this at the moment, but rest assured that it’s a known issue that we’re trying to fix. Should you have any other questions, please let us know!
-
Thanks for your feedback. It is now clear that it is not a setting or a translation issue. Nothing can be done on my side.
Let’s hope a fix will be delivered soon …
