    Only the top part of my website HOMEPAGE remains as it was – the headings work by clicking on (but it is not at all obvious to the user that they should click). The other stuff (about me) seems to come and go at will and it usually says the page does not exist or something meaning that.

    Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com but instead a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.

    We cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. But, I can get you pointed in the right direction.

    The “not found” would indicate that you have not selected the page on your website to be the “homepage” set under Appearance > Customizer > Homepage settings. You should select the page you want as your homepage there and save your changes.
