"www." disappears in the address bar

  when my blog address is entered with the “www.” in front, the address is successfully resolved by the name server.

  However, the “www.” in front disappears when connection is made to my log.

  What gives? How do I correct this?

  WordPress.com automatically removes that www.

  Also, please note that WordPress.com automatically removes the “www” from all URLs.

  If I understand what you’re describing, yes. You can have a WordPress.com website and still use Google Apps as your mail server. Here is some information about integrating Google Apps with WordPress.com:
