"www." in front of my domain still directs to old site

I mapped a domain I already owned to my wordpress site and it work beautifully, until you stick a “www.” in front of the link. Then it directs back to my old site instead of wordpress. I feel like it’s something simple but i can’t find it. Not sure if this is something that I can remedy on wordpress, or yahoo who hosts my domain. Thanks!

    Hi there,

I just took a look at your domain creativeimageice.com, and it looks like your nameservers are set to Yahoo’s. We do not really support mapping for any configuration other than through the use of nameservers.

With that said, when you have an issue such as the one which you described, it is because you have successfully pointed the @ record to the new host but not the www record. Usually you can just point the www using a CNAME to @. So you just go in to your host and change the www to @ (if it is a cname. If it is an IP address, you can change it to whatever you’ve set your @ record to be).

Again, I would recommend you changing your nameservers to the following:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM

    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM

    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

As this is the only way I can guarantee our services will remain stable. You can set any custom DNS within our DNS manager, if you have the need!

Thanks so much for the response. I think I have it resolved now. Everything looked to bet set correctly with the new wordpress nameservers on Yahoo’s end but apparently hadn’t taken effect yet. The issue was very intermittent; almost like the old page’s files and index.html were fighting wordpress. I moved everything to a backup folder and now I am directed to my wordpres site

Excellent! Glad to hear that it’s working for you now.

    Have a great week!
