WWW problem on Windows computers
-
We just sent out a mailing with our website address as ‘www.ourwebsite.wordpress.com’ (not the real address), but have found that people on Windows computers do not get connected to the website. They do if they just type in ‘ourwebsite.wordpress.com’ without the www.
Can I fix this somehow because I cannot send out another mailing now with a correction.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you look in your browser address bar you’ll see that your address is only prefixed with https:// There is no “www”. I suggest that you use https:// for future mailings. www is becoming obsolete across the internet and WordPress.com moved to the secure version of HTTP a long time ago although if anyone does happen to type www it ought to still re-direct.

Hi there,
Whether someone is on Windows or Mac shouldn’t affect this. However, it is possible that some browsers are not doing the redirect properly (let’s not name names, but I think you know the two I’m speaking of :) )
That said, these version of your domain should all work if typed into a browser:
example.com
http://www.example.com
http://example.com
http://www.example.com
https://example.comThe only version that will not work is https://www.example.com – this is expected.
So if any of the other versions don’t work, and the problem is restricted to specific computers or, more likely, specific browsers, it’s a browser problem that we can’t really do anything about.
But for most consistent results, we recommend giving your site URL as https://example.com, as @themagicrobot also said above.

Thank you. I believe it is an IE glitch then.
This was a wedding site I made for my wedding with RSVP. I didn’t catch it, but my partner had added “www” at one point to the website address thinking that was the right thing to do.
I should have caught it, but I missed it.
Thank you,
Mike
