www vs non-www URL – Different content displayed

Hello! I’m scratching my head about something. I confirmed the DNS records are all correct, and pointing correctly, but when I access the www version of my site, I’m not seeing recent changes on the site. However, when I go to the site without ‘www’, it appears correctly. I’ve seen some posts similar to this but not with the same content ‘differences’. Both versions work, but i’m seeing different (older) content with ‘www’. Can anyone help me with where to start looking? Thank you!

    Hey @ae4021ff,

This sounds like a tricky situation, but it’s actually a common issue that can often be traced back to caching or a DNS configuration hiccup. Here are a couple of steps to help you troubleshoot:

Check Your DNS Records – Make sure both the www and non-www versions of your domain are pointing to the same IP address or hosting service. Also, double-check that the www CNAME record is pointing correctly to your root domain (e.g., example.com).

Inspect Your Site Settings -Log in to your WordPress dashboard and head over to Settings → General. Confirm that both the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) match up and are consistent. For example, if one uses www, the other should too.

Let me know how it goes or if you get stuck! Happy to help further if needed.

Hi there, Can you share the address of the site this is happening on?

Just to clarify, these forums assist site owners hosted by WordPress.com, the hosting provider. No site hosted here on WordPress.com uses WWW in its URL.

In case you need help with a self-hosted site using the open source WordPress software, you’ll either want to check in with your web hosting provider’s support or head over to the community forums at WordPress.org https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

For info on the differences between the open source WordPress software and WordPress.com, the hosting provider, this guide helps https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/#are-wordpress-org-and-wordpress-com-the-same-thing
